Sarah Street

Director & Key Manual Handling Trainer

BSC (Hons) Critical Care, Dip HE Nursing (Adult)

A founding Director of Acorn Health & Safety, Sarah has 12 years critical care nursing experience and has been a manual handling trainer/advisor for 9 years. She is involved in the delivery of clinical skills and manual handling training and provides manual handling advice.


Ayshea Ware

RGN - Trainer

Ayshea has been in nursing for over 22 years specialising in acute medicine and renal/transplant. For the last 15 years she has been working as a manual handling adviser and has a diploma in back care management and the NEBOSH certificate for health and safety.

Emilie Bowles

DipHE Children’s Nursing - Trainer

Emilie is an enthusiastic, dedicated and dynamic Children’s Nurse; she has experience in moving and handling, resuscitation, medicines management and infection control.

Sylvia Jellyman

Adult Nurse – Trainer

Sylvia is compassionate, confident, kind and proactive adult nurse with over 20 years’ experience, 13 of these within the manual handling speciality. She is a hardworking, dedicated professional with good interpersonal skills working well as an individual and as part of a small team.Previous knowledge and experience gained through working in general acute medical wards, respiratory medicine, acute stroke unit and Gastrointestinal bleed unit.

Sylvia has developed training programmes for cardiac investigations, breast care services, phlebotomy and lung function service.I have also made several manual handling videos that staff will access, view and complete the test for their mandatory update training.I have lectured at the National Back Exchange conference in 2016.

Sylvia is a member of the Royal College of Nursing and the National Back Exchange

Linda O'Brien

Trainer

Linda is an accomplished and result driven health and social care specialist with over 15 years of comprehensive experience in health and social care.She has a proven track record of delivering high standards of care in each service.She has more than 5 years of experience in management roles, adapt at sharing knowledge with care staff to develop tier skills and deliver high quality care to customers.

Linda’s core competencies include health and social care, client services, health care assessments, problem solving

Matthew Barrett

Trainer

Matthew has undertaken first aid since he was 17 working both in voluntary and public sector; this includes working at large events including St Pauls carnival.

He has been a first aid trainer with Acorn since March 2015, carrying out training including basic first aid, first aid at work, outdoor first aid.

Danny Street

Director & Consultant

IOSH, MIIRSM

Following a career in the NHS Danny established Acorn Health and Safety in 1999 with a commitment to putting safety on the agenda by adopting a grounded and pragmatic approach.

Danny supports clients with a wide range of health and safety needs ranging from trades businesses to large manufacturing companies and private hospitals.

Danny holds the NEBOSH National Diploma and an OCR NVQ at Level 4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice and is a Graduate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and a Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).

Nigel Braybrooke

Consultant

Nigel has a varied working background with careers in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Avon and Somerset Police and Hospitality Management.

He also spent some time at City of Bristol College as an Assistant College Lecturer in Food Safety and First Ad Instructor.

He has gained his Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice and is a Graduate Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)

Roger Broadbent

Lead Fire Consultant

Rogers working life has mostly been spent in the security and fire protection industry, through engineering, technical roles, and into management, moving into environmental health and safety management in 2007.

Roger is familiar with working in, and with, global organisations, and is also comfortable with the requirements of small to medium sized enterprises, and now works as a Health and Safety Consultant.

Roger Holds the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (Distinction), the NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate (Distinction) and the, NEBOSH Construction Certificate (Credit). He is an OHSAS 18001:2007 OHS Auditor (IRCA/2010), and is approved to deliver IOSH Managing Safely and Working Safely courses. He held the position of Radiation Protection Supervisor for a National Company, he has experience in delivering UKATA and IATP Asbestos Awareness training and holds the BOHS P402 certificate in Asbestos Survey and Sampling, and also holds an Edexcel BTEC Level 4 Award in PTTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector), he is also a member of The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
