Royal Liverpool Hospital

Terms & Conditions

Your attention is drawn to the confidential aspects of studying in the hospital.

In the course of your time at the hospital, you will come into contact with information of a confidential nature including information referring to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

This information must not be divulged to, or discussed with, any person other than relevant members of staff. Breaches of confidence will be treated seriously and will be reported to the University and could even result in prosecution under the Data Protection Act 1998. You should also be mindful of the fact that regardless of any action taken by the Trust, a breach of confidence could also result in a civil action for damages.

When accessing clinical systems such as ICE or PACS, you must only access patients records for whom you have a legitimate interest to do so. It is not acceptable to access any other individual’s records if you are not directly involved with their care. Failure to comply with this is a breach of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

You should only access clinical systems using the user account supplied to you and only when relevant training has been provided. Both can be provided if required upon request. You must not share your password with fellow students, colleagues or members of staff at any time.

No patient identifiable information is to be removed, copied or transmitted outside the RLBUHT Trust premises.

Students are required to read and understand the relevant Trust Informatics Policies found on the Trust website and to conduct themselves accordingly.

Please take this form with you when you go for ICE and PACS training. (Not applicable to IMU Students)

I have read and understood the above information and agree to comply with all points raised.
