Our Team

Kathy Burn

CBT Therapist (BABCP Accredited) and Clinical Nurse Specialist,

Kathy has a nursing degree at Southampton University and is an experienced palliative care clinical nurse specialist. She has worked in community, hospice and acute hospital settings. At St Christopher’s she has managed a team of CNS’s and the Hospice at Home team. In 2006 she went on to train as a cognitive behavioural therapist at The Institute of Psychiatry. Currently, Kathy is employed in the Advancing Practice team and runs the CBT service.

Min Stacpoole

Nurse Specialist in Dementia and Palliative Care

Min managed a long stay ward for older people before coming to St Christopher’s. Min has worked in palliative care on the wards, in the community, and in the Care Home Project Team where she developed a specialist interest in palliative care for people with dementia. Min worked with Professor Joyce Simard as nurse researcher on the Namaste Care programme action research study completed in October 2013. The team has published the research findings in the International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry and the Journal of Dementia Care. Min presented the study at the European Association of Palliative Care and the Dementia Congress, and has lectured extensively on the Namaste Care programme throughout the UK.

Steph Storer

Lecturer

Steph is a qualified nurse who specialised in Palliative Care early on in her career working at St Christopher’s as a staff nurse in the early 90’s which gave her an excellent grounding in EOL care. Steph then joined a community based hospice service in Kent as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and achieved BSc Hons in Palliative Care and a Management diploma. Steph then became the Director of Nursing for the community team and inpatient unit at the Ellenor/Lions hospice. Steph then moved into managing nursing homes in Bromley taking EOL principles to the homes she managed before returning to St Christopher’s in 2014. She has worked in the Care Home Project Team, Personal Care Service and is now working in the education department as a lecturer having completed her PGCE in 2016.

Helen Scott

Practice Development Nurse, Care Home Project Team

Helen trained as a registered nurse at the then Thomas Guy and Lewisham School of Nursing and has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including five years as an inpatient staff nurse at St Christopher’s Hospice. She has undertaken a dementia care trainers’ programme with Dementia Trainers and was the editor of End of Life Journal before returning to work at St Christopher’s as a Practice Development Nurse.
