The School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) is a charity that supports people using entrepreneurial approaches to tackle complex social problems. Our vision is of a fair and equal society where the potential of all people is fully realised. SSE invests in individuals from all backgrounds who have practical ideas for change. We support people to start, sustain, and scale social enterprises, charities and community projects.
Founded in 119, The School for Social Entrepreneurs offers a full range of highly practical courses covering all aspects of social enterprise and social entrepreneurship. Our courses are suitable for individuals from all sectors - whether you want a full programme of support to start a social enterprise or a one-day workshop on social finance, we have a course to meet your needs.
Our courses are different to any training that you will have previously been on. We don't teach, but instead use practitioners and experts to share their own experiences, both good and bad.
Our courses are lively, full of inspiration and as jargon free as possible. You won't be sat in a room listening to hours of Powerpoint presentation, but you will have an opportunity to question, interact and network with speakers and your peers.
SSE’s Theory of Change is based on what we do and what we enable. The blue circles illustrate what we do and what we think of as within SSE’s ‘sphere of control’. They show the activities SSE undertakes to support individuals on a learning journey and the outcomes that are achieved for the student and their organisation. The pink circles illustrate what we enable and what we think of as within SSE’s ‘sphere of influence’. They show the outcomes achieved by the student and their organisation for people and communities and how, by being part of the SSE community, we achieve social change together.
